4 Amazing Volleyball Passing Drills

The game of volleyball starts with a good pass. Passing is one of the most effective and essential drill to learn in volleyball because if you can't pass, then there is no opportunity for you to set and hit the ball.
So,here we've compiled a list of some excellent passing drills that will help you to improve your passing skills.

1.Shuffle Steps
This is a great passing drill for beginners. It helps the player to quickly realize the importance of "shuffling" the feet. However, shuffling is not a constant motion that can always be used during a competition but it is a nice approach towards learning body control.
The drill starts with a player tossing the ball to other player who will then pass the ball back. The first player or the starting player will toss the ball high into the air and atleast ten feet away from the other player. The other player must shuffle without crossing the feet to toss the ball back to the first player. First player should manually vary the side the ball is being thrown so that the other player cannot predict where the ball will be thrown now.
After few tosses, players must switch so that now other player tosses and the first player shuffles and passes the volleyball.

2.Toss and Catch
This drill is the simplest drill that helps to improve accuracy and consistency in passing skills.
In this the Ist player will toss the ball to the IInd player who will first catch the ball and then throw it back to the first player.
After few tosses both the players must switch the positions so that now Ist player is passing and the IInd player is tossing the ball.

3.The Basket Passing
This drill is quiet difficult at first but once you got the hand of it you will love it. It helps the player to improve their forearm passing accuracy.
This drill requires the basketball net to practice. It starts with two players standing nearby and one of whom will toss the ball to the other player who will have to either hit the basketball net or make a basket. The tossing player must make it quiet easy for the passing player to score a basket by tossing the ball as controlled and accurate as he can.

4.Pipeline Passing
This drill will help to improve the lateral movement and forearm passing of the player.
Its starts with two players standing about 10 feet apart from each other from the dotted line of the volleyball court. Each pass must occur between these two lines.
The first player will pass the ball to second player who must shuffle sideways to the right and touch the sideline. Then the second player must shuffle back before the first player passes the ball again. This will also help the players to learn to get into the proper passing position when tired.

Great volleyball drill ! I love how it focuses on quick reflexes and reaction time. I tried this with my team, and it helped them anticipate the ball better. Any tips on making it more challenging for advanced players? Maybe adding a time limit or increasing ball speed?
